Another week over!

And what a busy week! I didn't think we'd much on but somehow the week has disappeared and it's the start of another week already! Still, I'm taking the chance of Kevin having a lie-in, Sam & Connor playing (noisily) in their room and Euan sitting in his bouncy chair to post an update!

We've had a good week. On Monday, Euan & I went to have coffee with Laura & Neve while Connor was at playgroup. It was lovely to catch up with Laura ... we used to meet up every week but once nursery and school became factors then it became harder to carry on ... especially as Sam was at nursery in the mornings and Nathan in the afternoons!

On Wednesday Kevin was off work because I had two appointments. It was a bit like a day off for me too and was lovely! In the morning I was meeting a personal shopper in Stirling to be interviewed for some market research she was doing ... her first question was "Where do you do most of your clothes shopping?" ... my answer "Tescos and Asda" ... I think I'm hardly the high-flying shopper she was hoping for! LOL! Still, I really enjoyed meeting with her and soaked up all the tips she gave me!

In the afternoon my baby was getting his first injections ... poor Euan ... I'm still getting my head round the fact that he's old enough for them! The injections don't seem to have bothered Euan too much although he let out impressive screams when the needles went in!

Euan's sore tummy seems to have eased ... the HV recommended Colocynth and he's definitely improving with it. He slept from 7 until 3.30 last night which is brilliant ... hopefully it'll keep increasing and soon he'll sleep though the night! Then we just need to convince Connor that 5am is not morning and we'll be sorted!!!

Thursday evening saw a trip to hospital for Sam & I. The Friday before Sam fell on his way home from school and periodically he's walked badly since then. On Thursday three separate people commented on it and, as Sam's not good at saying if something is sore, we decided to get it checked out at the Minor Injury Unit. The doctor was great ... manipulating Sam's leg this way and that and watching closely to see if he reacted. At one point he winced so she said "Sam, can you tell me EXACTLY where you are sore?". Sam smiled and said "Oh yes, this ear, this ankle, this knee, this arm and this nose"! Helpful eh! He makes me laugh so much!

On Friday, Connor, Euan & I went to Friday Focus. I stayed up in the hall this week rather than go to the Bible Study ... there's a girl I went to primary school goes now so it was nice to catch up with her. In the afternoon I walked the school run for the first time this term. It was a lovely day and a nice walk (and Connor needed a sleep!). Mind you, it took us over an hour to walk back home again ... it's all uphill! I kinda thought that the walk might kill or cure Sam's ankle or foot or leg or whatever it is that he's hurt ... he did say that it hurt on the way home but then said it was OK again so we still don't know if there's a problem!

Kevin worked in the garden yesterday morning ... it's really taking shape now. I'm looking forward to it being finished ... it'll look great! It's too dark for Kevin to work in the evenings now so he has to do it all on Saturdays which is a shame but hopefully before too much longer he'll be finished ... I think the decking will have to wait until the spring now.

So, it's Sunday ... it's a family service at church today. Most people keep their younger children in but we still let Connor and Euan go to the creche. Euan would be fine but I find him such a distraction because I keep looking at him in awe ... I was the same with Sam & Connor ... I really can't quite believe that they're my children! Connor is a real wriggling monkey in church so I think it's better for everyone if he goes to creche ... he'll settle down in time ... Sam sits really well mostly now so I'm not too worried about Connor. Kevin's going to Charlotte Chapel tonight which I'm really envious about! He's going to meet Kirsty's Mum afterwards to collect a pair of shoes for Euan which Ethan used to wear!

Lastly, Sam's learned two new verses this week. One is a verse he learned a long time ago but had forgotten ... 1 Corinthians 15:3,4 "Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures. He was buried, he rose again on the third day, according to the Scriptures". And the second verse is Psalm 66:5 "Come and see what God has done. See what amazing things he has done for all the people". I'm so hopeless at thinking of actions for the verses but Sam seems to be learning them which is great!

So that's us for another week! I'm so blessed to have such a lovely family and so thankful to God for them.

  1. I'm feeling tired just reading about your busy week! You sound so happy though and likely you're really settling into life as a family of five! It sounds like the garden's coming on nicely now Kevin's been able to get back out there...hope we're going to see some photos! Big hugs all round x
